Nestled in Carrolton in the back warehouse of a family owned printing company, Printers Ale Mfg started as a way to provide a bit extra for the production staff and grew from there. According to the timeline posted on their site (and the wall in the main tap room) the founder’s family has roots in brewing that go back over 200 years. The printing company was started in 1982 and Printers Ale came to life 35 years later in 2017.
Cyan (an IPA), Magenta (amber), Yellow (German Pilsner) and Black (a porter) make up what they call their Printer’s Everyday offering and the tap list is rounded up with a rotation of other beer that are brewed on a rotating schedule (or seasonal depending on the beer).
Through out the year there are several events (like movie or comedy nights) and the property offers several holes of disc golf, a spacious outdoor area and patio and food trucks on the regular. Printers uses a 20bbl system for brewing and has plenty of room both inside and out for growing as things take off.
This trip I was able to try two different beers, (the Painter’s Everyday offerings are available at several retail outlets in the Georgia market) the Highlight which is a Strawberry Rhubarb Sour and the Guttenberg Gose, a Hibiscus Lime Gose that had a nice reddish hue to it. Both were easy to drink and despite both being in the sour family were not too tart but complemented the Yum Yum Chicken I had from the food truck on site that night. We also had the chance to try the house Root Beer (non alcoholic) and liked that one as well.
