Big news for Georgia’s craft beer industry! Senate Bill 122 (SB 122), the “Craft Beer and Local Economy Revitalization Act,” has been introduced to modernize outdated regulations and give small breweries more freedom to grow. Here’s what it does:
Allows Self-Distribution – Small brewers could sell up to 3,000 barrels directly to retailers within 100 miles, reducing reliance on third-party distributors.
Lifts Retail Sales Limits – The 288-ounce daily cap for direct-to-consumer sales would be eliminated, though an annual cap of 6,000 barrels would remain.
Supports Charitable Donations – Breweries and brewpubs could donate beer to charity events, making it easier to support local causes.
Why This Matters:
Georgia’s craft beer scene has been thriving, but restrictive laws have forced some small breweries to shut down. SB 122 would provide more flexibility, create jobs, and boost local economies.
