DESCRIPTION:Athens Reparations Action’s vision is a Beloved Community in Athens where we heal together from harm inflicted by White Supremacy\, and live fully into the Biblical call to love our neighbor by working towards reparations. \nOur mission is to promote recognition of the financial impact of urban renewal and other racist policies on members of the Black community in Athens\, and to work toward redress of the harm done through reparations. \nAs a first step\, we are working toward public recognition of the violent impacts of urban renewal on Black homeowners in the former Linnentown community and redress through reparations to surviving homeowners and first descendants. In this first phase of our work\, 100% of the money we raise will go to direct payments to those individuals.
